Lin Chao is the Office of Georgia State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Service Coordinator/ Social Services Program Consultant 3. Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are advocates for residents who live in Skilled Nursing Facilities, Personal Care Homes also known as board and care homes, Assisted Living Communities, Community Living Arrangements, and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Lin has been an active board member of Georgia Association for Volunteer Administration (GAVA) since 2020. She currently completes 2022 American Society on Aging’s ASA RISE Fellowship Program that includes three program components: Understanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Leveraging DEI for Allyship and Mentoring. 

In promoting and supporting volunteerism, our Volunteer Ombudsman program aims to enhance the quality and diversity of volunteer experiences and thus contribute to creating strong and connected communities. This meeting will discuss: 

  • Benefits of intergenerational volunteer experience 
  • Best practice strategies in volunteer recruitment and retention for multiple generations 
  • Issues of common concern across generations
